In this episode, I describe a recent addition to the AI space, known as Bing AI chat. I discuss some of its newest features, as well as my experience using it. I also talk about some of the technologies used to build it and controversies swirling around it.

Microsoft Prometheus: The Next-Gen AI Model for Web Search
Microsoft has recently unveiled its new AI-powered search engine, Bing, which leverages a proprietary technology called Prometheus. Prometheus is a specialized artificial intelligence model for superior web searching and querying and is fundamentally based on OpenAI’s GPT3.5 and ChatGPT models. Its capabilities are optimized for rapidly fetching relevant and accurate search results without compromising user safety.
How Prometheus Works
Prometheus combines the Bing search engine information (such as indexing, ranking, and other data) and the technology behind ChatGPT to generate relevant and accurate answers using current web information. Prometheus takes advantage of new programmable hardware to accelerate applications and support distributed systems rather than traditional network protocols.
Prometheus uses a method called grounding, which selects the relevant internal queries and leverages the respective Bing search results to provide fresh information to the model, enabling it to answer recent questions and reduce inaccuracies. Prometheus also allows Bing chat to show citations for sources of information, which is increasingly important as concerns arise surrounding how search engines gather information.
Why Prometheus Matters
Prometheus is a breakthrough in AI-powered search, as it offers several benefits over conventional search engines. Some of these benefits include:
- Faster and more efficient datacenter systems by co-designing distributed systems with new network primitives.
- Replicated storage systems that scale with the number of replicas up to a 35x speedup in transaction processing performance.
- A reduction in DNN training time by as much as 67%.
- A key-value store that meets strict latency SLOs using 88% fewer machines.
- A chat-based interface that allows users to interact with Bing in a natural and conversational way.

What's Next for Prometheus
Microsoft is constantly improving Prometheus and adding new features to enhance the user experience. Some of the upcoming features include:
- A voice-based interface that allows users to speak to Bing using natural language processing and speech recognition.
- A visual-based interface that allows users to search by images or videos using computer vision and image recognition.
- A personalized interface that allows users to customize their search preferences and get tailored results based on their interests, location, and history.
- A collaborative interface that allows users to share their search results with others and get feedback or suggestions.

Prometheus is a game-changer for web search, as it delivers fast, accurate, and relevant results using real-time data and AI. Prometheus is also a testament to Microsoft's commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of artificial intelligence.
